FIFA introduced new rules for the 2026 World Cup

The International Federation of Association Football has announced a new regulation for the 2026 World Cup. According to it, special water breaks will now be organized for players during every match. This innovation has been set to apply to all matches in the tournament.
Under the new rules, the game will be stopped for 3 minutes in the middle of each 45-minute half. This means that two mandatory breaks will be announced during each match. Interestingly, these stoppages will be implemented by the head referee regardless of weather conditions or temperature.
FIFA explained this decision by the need to protect the health of players and improve their physical condition. Experts believe that such a step will serve to reduce the fatigue level of players and improve the quality of the game. It is also expected that these changes will have a unique impact on the pace of the game.
Recall that the 2026 World Cup is expected to be one of the largest competitions in football history. All participating national teams will need to adapt to these new rules. Through this initiative, FIFA has once again demonstrated that it puts the safety of athletes first.
