In Europe, the fight for a spot in the 2026 World Cup is becoming increasingly intense and competitive. The semi-finals of the qualifying playoffs have concluded, and some teams have earned opportunities to reach the decisive final.
As part of this stage, the Czech national team played against Ireland at home. During regular time, the hosts made a comeback, and the game ended in a 2:2 draw.
Ireland opened the scoring with a penalty from Perrott in the 19th minute. In the 23rd minute, an own goal was scored against the Czech Republic, making the score 0-2 in favor of the visitors. Czech Republic's first goal was scored by Šik from a penalty in the 27th minute. The hosts made a comeback in the 86th minute thanks to Krejčí's goal, scoring the second crucial goal for the team.
In the penalty shootout, the Czech Republic played successfully and won 4:3. This result allowed them to qualify for the final and caused great excitement among the fans.
