Uzbek judoists shine in Berlin: First place in the overall team standings

The prestigious international competition for juniors, the Berlin Millennium Team Cadet European Cup 2026, was held over two days in Berlin, Germany. The national team of Uzbekistan once again demonstrated its strength at this major start.
Under the leadership of Aurelian-Chiprian Flis, our cadets achieved a remarkable result despite the intense competition. The team secured 4 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze medals, taking 1st place in the overall team standings among 35 countries.
Most notably, countries with strong judo traditions such as France, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Italy, Germany, and Georgia were left behind. The fact that the national anthem of Uzbekistan was played 4 times at the Berlin arena shows the magnitude of this victory.
The significance of the competition was further enhanced by the presence of Dilshod Ahatov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Germany, who personally observed the final matches.
It is worth noting that during the stage of this tournament held in Antalya, Turkey, in March of this year, our juniors also won 12 medals. Charos Hikmatova, who became a champion in Berlin, had also been a gold medal winner at that competition.
Of course, these results are no coincidence. Behind them stands the systematic work of the coaching staff, particularly under the leadership of Aurelian-Chiprian Flis.
In short, the new generation has "given a serious signal" — they must now be reckoned with on the European stage.
