Real Madrid searches for Carvajal's replacement: Mourinho's former protégé on the list

Spanish club Real Madrid is considering suitable candidates to replace their captain Dani Carvajal, who is sidelined with a serious injury. According to various media reports, the club has identified three main options to strengthen the right-back position. Interestingly, the primary candidates are linked to the Premier League, with one having joined Manchester United during the Jose Mourinho era. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

The sports outlet writes that Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot is on the Madrid club's radar. Jose Mourinho brought his compatriot to England from FC Porto for 22 million euros in 2018. Currently, the 27-year-old Dalot can play equally well on both the right and left flanks. His contract with the Mancunians runs until 2028, and the club is not willing to let him go easily.

As a second option, Tottenham member Pedro Porro is being mentioned. However, according to AS, the 26-year-old's transfer fee could be too expensive for Real Madrid. Tottenham paid 40 million euros to Sporting CP for Porro in 2023. Currently, the London club has no intention of selling their leader at a low price.

The third and cheapest option is to place trust in the club's academy graduates. Talents like Jesus Fortea and David Jimenez from the Real Madrid youth team are seen as backup options until a potential Trent Alexander-Arnold transfer materializes. While Fortea is recognized as a future star, Jimenez has already been involved in first-team training.
