Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has admitted he has the intention to return to Roma, the club where he grew up, and that he has "unfinished business" in the Italian capital. The 23-year-old, who has become a key part of Mikel Arteta's squad and won the Premier League, spoke about his connection with the "Giallorossi" ahead of the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. A product of the Roma academy, Calafiori left the club before he could fully prove himself in his first team. Now an English champion and a Champions League finalist, the 24-year-old defender recalls his departure with a sense of regret. In an interview with Corriere della Sera, he shared his long-term plans: "I am happy here now, but I have unfinished business with Roma. I barely played there when I was young. I want to return, not now, but someday it will happen."
Despite his success in North London, Calafiori remains a die-hard fan of the club where he started his football journey. He closely follows the results of the Roma team, which qualified for the Champions League under Gian Piero Gasperini. The defender expressed his support for the Roman club's new project and hopes the team will reach the top level again.
The Italian international noted that he is still in touch with the leaders in the Roma dressing room. "I am happy for their success. I talk to Mancini, Cristante, and Pellegrini. They even wished me a happy birthday; we are still in contact," added Calafiori. These relationships keep the doors open for his return to his former club in the future.
