China's BYD has taken an innovative step with a new electric vehicle platform. The company announced the launch of an updated platform with a 1,000-volt architecture. This new system will allow electric vehicles to be charged as quickly as they can be filled with gasoline, Reuters reports.
According to BYD founder Wang Chuanfu, cars on the new platform can be charged with a power of up to 1,000 kilowatts and can travel 400 kilometers after just five minutes of charging. This, of course, can attract many with its ability to set new standards in the field of electric vehicles and quickly and easily charge the battery.
Wang Chuanfu said that the first electric cars to be produced based on the 1,000-volt architecture will be the Han L sedan and the Qin L SUV. These models will also serve to pave the way for many new opportunities and developments in the field of electric vehicles.
The company also plans to build more than 4,000 ultra-fast charging stations in China. This, in turn, will further simplify the charging process of electric vehicles and ensure safety. However, the project implementation period and investment volume are not yet disclosed.
