Why should you start learning artificial intelligence right now?
Artificial intelligence is increasingly entering people's lives around the world. This not only amazes people but also brings fears such as job loss. However, instead of fearing, it's better to learn and adapt. Below, Angelika Matushkina, an information technology expert from The Voice publication, discusses why it's important to master artificial intelligence and that it's never too late to do so.

When did it start?

According to data, November 30, 2022, is considered the birth date of artificial intelligence. On this day, OpenAI launched ChatGPT, and within the first 5 days, a million people used it. Within two months, the number of users reached 100 million — no service in history has grown so rapidly. In fact, artificial intelligence has been developing for decades. For example, in 1997, a computer defeated Garry Kasparov, and in 2011, the artificial intelligence Watson won against humans in Jeopardy!. Artificial intelligence started developing long before this, but it was ChatGPT that popularized it.

And after that, the following happened:

* 2022: 35% of large companies began implementing artificial intelligence.

* 2023: Investments in generative artificial intelligence increased eightfold, reaching $25.2 billion.

What will happen next?

* 2025: Companies will actively begin reducing office staff through automation. However, at the same time, businesses will increasingly need specialists who know how to interact with artificial intelligence.

* 2026–2027: A new set of professions will emerge in the labor market — artificial intelligence editors, digital assistant developers, artificial intelligence ethics auditors, virtual world designers.

* By 2030: Artificial intelligence is expected to increase the global economy by $15.7 trillion.

Will artificial intelligence take away all jobs from people?

Such concerns have existed before. 100 years ago, American farmers panicked that tractors would destroy their profession. In some ways, they were right: workers with sickles disappeared. But in their place came mechanizers, engineers, manufacturers, and sellers of agricultural machinery. As a result, the standard of living for farmers increased, and agriculture became more profitable.

The same will happen with artificial intelligence. 50 professions will disappear, but 180 new professions will emerge (according to the World Economic Forum). For example, businesses now need prompt engineers, artificial intelligence operators, virtual world designers.

Human factor or artificial intelligence: who will win?

When Kasparov lost to a computer in chess, he said: "Artificial intelligence can defeat a human. But a human who knows how to use artificial intelligence will defeat both artificial intelligence and humans."

Artificial intelligence is not a threat but a tool. The phone didn't replace people but gave us new opportunities. Computers didn't eliminate accountants but made their work much more efficient.

Yes, a person will plow less land without a tractor, but a tractor also can't go anywhere without a person (can't move). Think about what opportunities you're missing by not learning artificial intelligence tools. Therefore, every person will inevitably need to master artificial intelligence sooner or later.
