The DOGE (Government Efficiency Department), established by former President Donald Trump, has ceased operations in the US. Although eight months remained until the end of his term, the project was officially closed.
DOGE was initially launched to reduce bureaucracy and reduce government spending. Although the project was initially announced with great attention and advertising, it did not yield the expected result. Scott Cuport, head of the OPM (Personnel Management), said that DOGE no longer exists as a centralized structure, its functions have been transferred to other structures.
Some specialists who worked within DOGE are currently working on improving government websites at the National Design Studio. Trump and Elon Musk actively supported this project, and Musk is even remembered for coming out at a conference with a chain saw as a symbol of "cutting off" bureaucracy.
Nevertheless, local projects similar to DOGE are being created in some states. DOGE was supposed to save billions, but independent experts stated that it was impossible to confirm this figure.
