Exodus project remains in the hands of BioWare veterans

Fans around Exodus, often described as a “spiritual successor” to Mass Effect, grew concerned after reports that Archetype Entertainment head James Ohlen had left the studio. This was reported by playground.ru reports .
As concerns intensified, Ohlen addressed the public and emphasized that the project is in “very reliable hands.” He said development is being continued by experienced specialists, including veterans from BioWare who worked on Mass Effect.
Ohlen said he made the decision to leave back last summer, driven by a desire to prevent “professional burnout.” After more than six years of carrying both business and creative responsibility while making AAA-level games, he explained that “it was time to pass the baton.”
He also noted that the decision was made in full coordination with Hasbro, that his relationship with the team remains good, and that he will still be involved in brand-related projects as a creative consultant.
Despite leadership changes, Exodus’s core foundation is said to be unchanged: Drew Karpyshyn still oversees the story and game world. He is known as the writer of the first two Mass Effect games as well as Star Wars: KOTOR.
Ohlen also stressed that the project is being led by professionals he has trusted for decades, including studio co-founder Jesse Sky.
Exodus is slated to premiere in early 2027. It was previously revealed that actor Matthew McConaughey is also involved in the project’s development.
