90% Steam discount pushes Detroit to a million sales

Quantic Dream’s sci-fi adventure game Detroit: Become Human has surged in the Steam charts over the past two weeks. The game climbed to second place in sales (after ARC Raiders) and, according to estimates, has sold close to one million copies. This was reported by playground.ru. reports .
According to Alinea Analytics, between December 21 and January 5, Detroit: Become Human sold nearly 993,000 copies. In other words, a project released almost eight years ago managed to sell almost a million copies in just 14 days.
The main driver behind the spike was the biggest discount in Steam’s history: the price dropped from $40 to $4 (-90%). Such a low offer became a major “excuse” for many players to buy it.
Amid the sales surge, on January 4 Detroit: Become Human also set a new record for concurrent players — 25,615 users.
At the same time, online discussions note that the game lacks protection systems like Denuvo, which is bringing the topic of pirated copies back into the spotlight. Some users also argue that the project should have been sold at a lower price from the start.
