Windows 11 to support 5000 Hz monitors

Windows 11 recently received an update to support monitors with refresh rates exceeding 1000 Hz, but the actual upper limit is much higher. It has been revealed that the operating system will eventually support displays with a staggering 5000 Hz refresh rate. Reports Ixbt.com.

Microsoft did not officially announce this massive increase. However, reports indicate that Mark Rejhon from Blur Busters played a crucial role in convincing the tech giant to significantly raise the screen refresh rate limit to 5000 Hz.

Currently, the monitor market has only just crossed the 1000 Hz threshold, and even then, it is limited to a 720p resolution. According to projections from Blur Busters, displays capable of reaching 2000 Hz are expected to hit the consumer market by the year 2030. Therefore, a 5000 Hz monitor remains a distant concept for now.

The stable version of Windows 11 received the initial update supporting refresh rates over 1000 Hz on March 26. Unfortunately, Microsoft had to recall the patch the very next day due to installation problems. The company is expected to resolve these issues and release the update again in the near future.
