Lenovo acquires famous BIOS developer Phoenix Technologies

The Chinese corporation "Lenovo" has announced the acquisition of "Phoenix Technologies", one of the world's most famous BIOS software developers. As part of the deal, the division registered in Dublin and all related intellectual property rights have passed to the buyer. Ixbt.com reports this.
This acquisition allows "Lenovo" to establish full control over firmware, the most critical stage of personal computer operation — responsible for system booting, hardware security, and platform settings. Company representatives noted that the new technologies will serve to integrate hardware and software parts even more deeply.
The partnership between "Phoenix Technologies" and "Lenovo" has been ongoing for more than 20 years. Until now, the developer supplied BIOS for "ThinkPad" laptops, but now this partnership has turned into a full merger.
In the future, it is planned to use these technologies in artificial intelligence-based devices as well.
Founded in 1979, "Phoenix Technologies" has many software solutions in its portfolio, such as "Phoenix SecureCore", "OmniCore", and "FirmCare" designed for servers, laptops, and embedded systems. Now all these products will be developed under the "Lenovo" brand.
