OpenAI is preparing to introduce its first hardware product—a smartphone powered by the ChatGPT system. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company has accelerated the project and plans to mass-produce the device by early 2027. This is reported by Theverge.com .
The new smartphone will run on a custom version of the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 processor. A key feature of the device is the ISP processor for image signal processing, which significantly improves HDR technology and expands visual sensor capabilities.
Technically, the smartphone is expected to be equipped with LPDDR6 memory and a UFS 5.0 storage system. It will also feature a dual NPU architecture designed to handle language and image tasks simultaneously.
Experts estimate that sales of this device will reach 30 million units between 2027 and 2028. This figure could bring the OpenAI smartphone to the level of Samsung flagships in terms of market share.
