Angry Birds, Silent Hill and FIFA International Soccer inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame

The Strong National Museum of Play in the US has announced the new inductees for the 2026 Video Game Hall of Fame. The list includes Angry Birds, Silent Hill, Dragon Quest, and FIFA International Soccer. These games were recognized for their significant impact on their genres and generations of players. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

Rovio's Angry Birds is the most popular title on the list. Released in 2009, the game became a global phenomenon in the mobile industry. Millions of users destroyed pig fortifications by launching birds from a slingshot. The brand later expanded beyond smartphones into movies and merchandise.

Konami's horror game Silent Hill was honored for shaping the psychological horror genre. The game became famous for its foggy town and an atmosphere that evokes constant unease. Additionally, the 1986 Japanese RPG Dragon Quest played a crucial role in creating the template for modern role-playing games.

Electronic Arts' FIFA International Soccer laid the foundation for the world's largest football game series. Although the company no longer uses the FIFA license and has rebranded the game to EA Sports FC, this original title served as the cornerstone for sports simulators. The new winners join a collection of 49 cult games.
