Fake modules appear among DDR5 RAM

Following the price increase of DDR5 RAM modules in the Asian market, a wave of counterfeit products has emerged. These devices, sold on online marketplaces and in retail stores, resemble genuine memory modules but lack any functional capabilities. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

According to information shared by X user Taki, modules marketed as 16GB Samsung units allegedly featured SK hynix chips. However, inspections revealed that these "chips" were actually just pieces of plastic. Scammers are applying markings to plastic parts to pass them off as real memory chips.

Currently, such fake products are being sold on platforms like Yahoo Japan under "no warranty" and "no returns" conditions. Experts are urging buyers to be cautious and avoid purchasing suspiciously cheap hardware.

The shortage of computer components and high prices create a favorable environment for scammers. Buyers risk purchasing non-functional plastic parts by being misled by brand names and external appearances.
