Messages for Android and iPhone users are being encrypted

Finally, end-to-end encryption for messages between Android and iPhone users is being introduced. Starting Monday, this security technology has been launched in beta testing for devices with the latest software. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .

End-to-end encryption is crucial for ensuring user privacy. This technology converts messages into protected code during transmission, meaning hackers, government agencies, or communication platform owners cannot read the chats. Previously, such protection did not exist between iMessage and Android systems.

Apple had long refused to support the RCS standard. However, due to pressure from regulators and efforts by Google, Apple agreed to adopt this standard in 2023. RCS technology provides features like larger text limits, reactions, and read receipts.

This update reduces the gap between "green" and "blue" bubbles. As the feature is currently in beta, it may not be available to all users yet. If a conversation is encrypted, users will see a special lock icon in the chat window.
