Russia's first BIOS system removed from software registry

The BIOS system developed by the Russian company "Gruppa Rikor" has been removed from the country's national software registry. According to CNews, this decision was made at the request of the Ministry of Digital Development. The official reason cited was that the registry data was outdated and the rights holder failed to provide updated information, reports Ixbt.com. reports .

"Rikor" announced its first local BIOS system in 2018 and added it to the registry in 2023. It was stated that the software fully complied with UEFI specifications and was designed for computers and servers based on AMD and Intel architectures. However, company representatives stated that this BIOS is now obsolete and they are working on new projects.

Experts believe this is not an isolated case. Currently, there are dozens of local BIOS systems in the registry, but most are based on foreign code, particularly AMI. The Ministry of Digital Development began tightening requirements and conducting audits in 2026. As a result, products from companies that have only minimally modified foreign code are expected to be removed from the registry.

According to industry sources, only a few companies, including OpenYard, Fplus, and "Rostelekom," have managed to write their own original BIOS code. In the future, the ministry plans to clean up the registry through ongoing inspections, leaving only truly local developments.
