Slate Auto to announce price of its affordable electric vehicle on June 24

Slate Auto, a startup backed by Jeff Bezos and LA Dodgers owner Mark Walter, will announce pricing for its affordable electric vehicle on June 24. On the same day, the company will begin accepting non-refundable pre-orders. Initial deliveries are scheduled to take place by the end of this year. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .

The company sent emails to potential buyers on Thursday, inviting them to make a $50 reservation. This payment is crucial to secure a spot in the $300 official pre-order phase starting next month. Slate Auto had previously promised that pricing would be revealed in June, and an updated FAQ section has confirmed this.

The four-year-old company unveiled its stealth plans in April 2025. Slate Auto aims to create a simple, no-frills vehicle that can be customized according to customer preferences. Initially, the base model was expected to be priced under $20,000, but following the repeal of federal tax credits, prices are now expected to be in the mid-$20,000 range.

So far, over 160,000 customers have made a $50 refundable deposit. In March, former Amazon Marketplace vice president Peter Faricy was appointed CEO to lead the company. Slate Auto has raised a total of $1.4 billion in funding to date, with the majority coming from Mark Walter's firm, TWG Global.
