Xiaomi flagship smartphone prices could rise to $1500

Xiaomi President Lu Weibing has warned of a significant price increase for high-end smartphones in the near future. According to him, by the end of 2026, flagship devices in the Chinese market are likely to exceed 10,000 yuan, or approximately $1,500. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

The main reason for this price hike is the rising cost of memory components. DRAM and NAND flash memory prices have surged, making it difficult for smartphone manufacturers to cover these expenses. In particular, the pricing for upcoming models like the Xiaomi 17 Max is still being discussed internally.

Lu Weibing emphasized that expanding memory production capacity is a time-consuming process. Building new factories and establishing mass production takes several years, while the demand for memory for AI servers and high-performance computing equipment is growing rapidly.

The expert believes that price pressure in the memory market may persist until 2027, or possibly 2028. This will lead to a shift in pricing policies across the entire smartphone industry and an increase in the cost of the flagship device segment.
