Binoculars recommended: 'Blue' Moon visible this weekend

The second full moon of May—a phenomenon known as a 'Blue' Moon—will be visible this weekend even without special equipment. According to expert Yevgeny Burmistrov, the Earth's satellite will be passing through the furthest point of its orbit during this period. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
As a result, the lunar disk will appear 5-5.5 percent smaller and 10.5 percent dimmer than usual. Despite the slight decrease in brightness, the night luminary can still be seen with the naked eye. Using binoculars will allow for a more detailed view of the Moon's large dark plains—the seas and craters.
The expert advises against using a telescope during the full moon phase. This is because sunlight hits the lunar surface almost vertically at this time, resulting in no shadows and making the relief appear flat and featureless. Additionally, the excessive brightness in a telescope can cause eye discomfort.
The most favorable conditions for observing the 'Blue' Moon are expected on the nights of May 30-31 and May 31-June 1. For astronomy enthusiasts, this promises to be one of the most interesting celestial events of the year.
