
According to the Tashkent Region Customs Department, Uzbekistan's tourism sector has seen significant growth in recent years.
Tourism export increased 1.6 times to reach $3.5 billion. Over 2,000 new entrepreneurs entered the tourism market. Most notably, foreign tourist arrivals surpassed 10 million for the first time.
Infrastructure in the regions is developing rapidly. Over the past 8 years, $6.5 billion in investments were made, creating 130,000 hotel beds. Another 30,000 will be added this year.
An international ski zone is being developed on Parkent’s “Oltin bel” peak. France’s “Courchevel” resort has shown interest in developing European-standard tourism sites in Uzbekistan.
The President stated: “Our rich cultural heritage and unique nature are enough to triple the number of tourists.”
A strategy is being prepared to increase tourism’s GDP share to 7% and exports to $10 billion by 2040.
