Starting from June 1, 2025, Uzbekistan will introduce a simplified process for obtaining a five-year residence permit (RP) for foreign citizens and stateless individuals, Podrobno.uz reported.
Under the new regulation, applicants must make a one-time investment of $200,000 (approximately 2.5 billion UZS) to qualify for the RP. If the applicant includes family members such as a spouse, children, or parents, an additional $100,000 (around 1.25 billion UZS) is required for each person.
This initiative aims to boost Uzbekistan's appeal to foreign investors. Similar programs exist worldwide — for instance, the United States recently launched a "golden card" program offering citizenship through investment, selling 1,000 cards at $5 million each on the first day.
