On April 24, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow held talks in a narrow circle and with the participation of official delegations at the Silk Road Samarkand complex.
Urgent issues of further development and strengthening of friendly, good-neighborly and strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan were considered.

It was noted with great satisfaction that multifaceted cooperation is rapidly developing in all areas, including political, interparliamentary, trade-economic, transport-communication and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
It was emphasized that effective dialogue is being conducted at all levels. Meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Council of Entrepreneurs, the Forum of Regions, cultural days, exhibitions and other events are regularly held. Last year, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $ 1.1 billion. Trading houses have been opened in the capitals, and cargo transportation is increasing. It is aimed to bring trade turnover to $ 2 billion in the coming years.
Mutually beneficial cooperation is developing in energy, transport, agriculture and water management, and other sectors of the economy. Together, the "Shovot-Tashovuz" border trade zone is being created.

Active interregional dialogues have been established, and large-scale programs for cultural and humanitarian exchange are being implemented.
This year, it was agreed to hold the third Forum of Regions in the city of Khiva and the Days of Turkmen Culture in Uzbekistan.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan exchanged views on issues related to regional partnership, including the upcoming summits in the "Central Asia Plus" format and preparations for the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia to be held in Tashkent.

The Head of State emphasized the importance of the forum and other international events to be held in Ashgabat in December this year within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Confidence, declared by the United Nations General Assembly at the initiative of Turkmenistan.

At the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan presented the national leader of the Turkmen people with a copy of the book "The Gem of Thought" written by him in Uzbek. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
