The Tashkent city administration announced that the "Kuylyuk" market will not be closed, but its operations will be optimized, reported Kursiv Media. Reconstruction and improvement works are being carried out in phases, and trading continues.
According to officials, the market faces issues like poor sanitation, fire safety violations, and unregulated trade. Therefore, it is being reorganized to meet urban and international standards.
During the reconstruction, infrastructure will be upgraded, conditions for sellers and buyers improved, and digital technologies will be introduced to ensure tax transparency and reduce the shadow economy.
