AI-80 Gasoline Price Liberalized In Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan will lift the price restriction on cheap gasoline starting June 10, nova24.uz reports. The Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (UzEx) will remove price limits for AI-80 gasoline.

The Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection issued a directive that will abolish the upper limit on the increase of the starting price of fuel in exchange trades. The 5% restriction on the initial cost had been in effect since November 13, 2024. This decision was made after the exchange price of AI-80 gasoline exceeded 10 million soums per ton.

According to UzEx data, on the first day after the limit was introduced, gasoline became 8% cheaper, although the sales volume slightly decreased. At the same time, propane sales decreased by 13% in one day and more than twofold over the previous two weeks.

Brokers described propane trading after the price ceiling was introduced as a "lottery." With identical price offers, liquefied gas is received by those whose applications were registered earlier by the exchange system. In December 2025, a sharp increase in AI-80 gasoline sales was noted. This was due to restrictions on the operation of gas filling stations because of a sharp cold snap.

Earlier, it was reported that from April 1, 2025, excise tax rates on gasoline, diesel fuel, gas, and other petroleum products would increase by an average of 10%. Authorities had also previously assured that there were no problems with gasoline, and a huge fuel reserve had been created to cover demand.

All this is happening against the backdrop of interruptions in the operation of gas filling stations, with threats of 15 days of arrest for complaints.
