"New Uzbekistan" University evaluation system to be introduced

The assessment system used at “New Uzbekistan” University will now be implemented in higher education institutions across the country, officials announced.

Under the new system, 40 points will be awarded for graduate employment, 30 points for industry orders and product sales resulting from research, 20 points for scientific capacity and publications in recognized international journals, and up to 10 points for securing local and foreign research grants.

For example, if Qarshi Technical University scores 85% of the total possible points, it will receive a 20% bonus on top of its allocated 78 billion soums from the budget this year. If it scores less than 56%, its funding for the next academic year will be reduced. It was also noted that research-oriented universities and socially-focused universities cannot be evaluated on the same scale.
