Uzbekistan sets record in green energy production

As of September 23, solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan produced a record 8 billion kWh of electricity in 2025, reports Kursiv media site. The previous record was 7 billion kWh in August.

The country has 12 solar and 5 wind power plants with a total capacity of 4.6 thousand MW. This allowed saving 2.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas and preventing the emission of 3.5 million tons of harmful substances into the air.

If all green energy sources are counted — hydro, solar, and wind power plants — 13.2 billion kWh of electricity was produced from the beginning of the year to September 23. This accounts for 22% of the total electricity in the country and is enough to supply 7.3 million homes for nine months or 5.5 million homes for one year.
