Uzbekistanis are increasingly actively traveling abroad. According to the National Statistics Committee, in January-August 2025, about 5.2 million citizens traveled abroad for tourism purposes. This figure is 1.1 million people or 26.8% more than in the same period last year.
Experts note that this growth is explained by the post-pandemic mood of active travel and an increase in the number of flights. Currently, Uzbeks travel to neighboring countries more often - for economic, religious, and family reasons.
According to the committee, the countries most visited by Uzbekistanis in the first 8 months of this year are distributed as follows:
1. Kyrgyz Republic - 2.3 million people
2. Kazakhstan - 956 thousand people.
3. Tajikistan - 887.9 thousand people
4. Russia - 312.7 thousand people.
5. Turkey - 181.7 thousand people.
6. Saudi Arabia - 165.7 thousand people
7. UAE - 94.2 thousand people
8. Egypt - 45.4 thousand people
9. Vietnam - 28.5 thousand people
10. China - 27.6 thousand people.
Other countries - 162.4 thousand people
As can be seen, Uzbekistanis mainly travel to Central Asian countries. These routes are popular not only due to geographical proximity, but also visa-free regime, cheap transport, and cultural proximity.
At the same time, the number of trips to Turkey and Saudi Arabia is growing. It was noted that the Saudi direction has grown, especially due to religious trips related to Umrah pilgrimage.
Destinations such as Egypt, the UAE, and Vietnam are more associated with leisure and travel tourism, and interest in them has increased significantly over the past two years.
It should be recalled that earlier the National Statistical Committee also provided information on where the largest number of students come to Uzbekistan. In the first half of 2025, 2,780 Indian students studied in the republic - this is the highest figure.
According to officials, active contacts in the field of tourism and education demonstrate the strengthening of Uzbekistan's international integration process.
