One of the most prestigious publications in the world - National Geographic - has presented a list of the most interesting and inspiring destinations for travelers for 2026. Among the various routes in Asia, Europe, and America is the ancient city of Khiva in Uzbekistan.
The editors and researchers of the publication note that Samarkand and Bukhara are already in the spotlight of world travelers, while Khiva offers them a calmer atmosphere, as if time has stopped. According to the article, Khiva gives the tourist a feeling of "conversation with the past."
It is noted that a high-speed train from Tashkent to Khiva will soon be launched, which will reduce travel distance by half. It is also noted that the city's renovated palaces, mosques and minarets, Ichan Kala are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
National Geographic recommends that tourists visiting Khiva get acquainted with local culture and see festivals such as Lazgi dance, melon festival, and hero games. According to the magazine, it is these traditional qualities that make Khiva a "living museum city" in the modern world.
