Vehicle-free zones for pedestrians are expanding in Uzbekistan

At the initiative of the Tourism Committee, "car-free zones" are being created throughout the country to create convenience for tourists and local residents. In these areas, opportunities for free walking and safe recreation will be created.

Such zones have been introduced in historical and tourist centers of Bukhara, Andijan, Fergana, Kokand, Margilan, and Samarkand. In particular, Registan Square, the Shohi Zinda corridor, the Konigil tourist village, and other facilities have been turned into a car-free zone.

Also, in Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Namangan, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya, Tashkent city and regions, Navoi, Surkhandarya and Khorezm, special streets and walkways have been closed to traffic. Signs prohibiting vehicle entry have been installed.
