A new state program for environmental safety has been adopted

Another large-scale program for environmental protection and stabilization of the ecological situation in the capital has been launched in Uzbekistan. This document, signed by the President on November 18, clearly defined the priorities in the field of ecology and set specific tasks for implementation throughout the country. The new measures are aimed not only at improving air quality, but also at the rational use of resources, preserving green spaces, and introducing energy-efficient systems.

Serious attention in the program was paid primarily to the issue of stable provision of natural gas to greenhouse farms located in the city of Tashkent and Tashkent region. For this purpose, by the end of 2025, a comprehensive analysis of greenhouses' gas needs, available capacities, network connectivity capabilities, and the possibility of implementing energy-saving technologies will be conducted. The possibility of efficient use of natural gas and the integration of alternative sources, such as biogas and solar energy, will also be explored.

It was also decided to prepare legislative changes aimed at strengthening responsibility for facilities operating on harmful fuel and reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere. This is especially true for enterprises operating with fuel oil and other highly polluting fuels.

From December 1, the prevention of the sale of AI-80 gasoline at gas stations throughout the republic will be strictly controlled. This step is aimed at increasing the consumption of high-quality and environmentally friendly fuel.

In the capital, from December, the movement of freight vehicles will be restricted during peak hours. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will determine on which streets this procedure will be implemented. These restrictions will improve the city's air quality and reduce traffic congestion.

Significant changes are also expected in the construction sector by 2026. Before the start of construction, online cameras and background monitoring stations must be installed at each site. Thus, the amount of dust and pollution during construction is controlled. Standards for accounting for wind direction in construction will also be developed - the basic norms related to the location of buildings, wind passage, and air circulation will be strictly regulated.

The direction and speed of the wind in Tashkent are constantly monitored, and Uzhydromet informs the population about this through the mass media. This will help to conduct accurate and constant monitoring of the city's environmental situation.

One of the largest initiatives in the field of ecology is the "Green Tashkent" project. By November 2025, a special working group will be created to coordinate such tasks as increasing the area of green areas in the capital, renewing the landscape, modernizing irrigation systems, and implementing digital monitoring solutions. This group will include representatives of the Ecology Committee, the city administration, the Ministry of Construction, and other important agencies.

Also, a separate forestry enterprise will be created in Tashkent, the tasks, staffing levels, and technical base of which will be fully developed by December 2025. The program also includes the creation of dendrological and botanical gardens throughout the republic, the collegial review of permits for tree cutting, and the improvement of "Green Zone" services.

Importantly, the Ministry of Ecology will now function as an independent committee. An Eco-police was established under the Committee, which was granted the right to use physical force in limited cases. Local authorities were also strictly prohibited from accepting documents related to tree cutting.

The implementation of this comprehensive program is expected to significantly stabilize the environmental situation both in Tashkent and in other regions. The directions are clear, the tasks are urgent, and the goal is one: to create a healthy environment for the health of the population and future generations.
