You can't get a house or car for cash - new rules will come into force from 2026

From April 1, 2026, important financial procedures aimed at reducing cash flow and increasing economic transparency will be introduced in Uzbekistan. According to the presidential decree, payments for a number of goods and services will be made only through bank cards or electronic payment systems.

In accordance with the new procedure, the use of cash is prohibited in the following areas:

• payments for public services;
• utilities (electricity, gas, water);
• trade in alcohol and tobacco products;
• Charging services for fuel and electric vehicles at gas stations;
• all goods and services worth more than 25 million soums;
• sale and purchase of real estate;
• sale of cars and special equipment of categories M, N, O, G, manufactured no more than 10 years ago.

According to these changes, starting from 2026, it will be impossible to buy a house, a new car, or other large assets for cash. All major transactions are formalized only through the bank.
