Is there an age limit for becoming a rescuer?

In Uzbekistan, it is planned to establish an age limit for hiring a rescuer. This is envisaged to be implemented through amendments to Article 9 of the Law "On the Rescue Service and the Status of a Rescuer."

According to the draft law, citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan aged 18 to 30 are admitted to rescue services and professional rescue formations for the position of rescuer, as well as to educational institutions that train rescuers.

Candidates must have a general secondary education, undergo a medical examination and be recognized as fit for rescue activities, as well as meet the requirements of professional, physical, and spiritual-psychological training.

It is noted that in practice, there is no age limit for hiring a rescuer. Therefore, until now, citizens aged 18 to 50 have been employed.

Currently, 1,658 rescuers aged 40 to 50 and 826 rescuers over 50 are working in the system of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Experts note that this situation leads to a decrease in the effectiveness of some rescue operations, difficulties in extinguishing fires, and a decrease in combat readiness.
