President meets with veterans and pays tribute to them

On May 8, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited World War II veterans and home front workers, sincerely congratulating them on the holiday. This meeting held great spiritual significance, serving not just as an official event, but as an expression of respect, gratitude, and historical memory between generations.
The head of state had a heartfelt conversation at the Main Military Clinical Hospital of the Armed Forces with Akmal Akramov, Vera Zhuravskaya, Khasanboy Khalmatov, and Vladimir Alekseykov. The President inquired about the veterans' well-being and health, specifically acknowledging their difficult, challenging, and exemplary life paths.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the resilience, patience, and dedication shown during the war years and on the home front will be forever preserved in the memory of our people. After all, today's peaceful and calm days, and the free lives of our children and grandchildren, were built through the hard work, courage, and patience of such brave individuals.
“You are living witnesses of history and symbols of resilience. Meeting with such venerable people and listening to your advice gives us great spiritual strength. Our people are rightfully proud of you. Today's peaceful and free days and the happy future of the generations are the result of your unparalleled dedication. Your exemplary life path is a true school of courage for our youth,” the President said.
In accordance with the President's decree dated April 16 of this year, high respect is being shown to war and labor veterans in our country. This is not accidental. Because if a nation does not forget its history and its heroes, it steps into the future with confidence. Where there is memory, there is dignity; where there is dignity, there is spiritual strength.
It was noted that World War II participants, home front veterans, as well as family members of military personnel who died while performing their duties during the years of independence, are under the constant attention and care of the state. In addition to providing material and moral support, preferential vouchers to the best sanatoriums in our republic have been allocated for their health recovery.
“The Almighty has granted you long life and the happiness of living in the embrace of the nation as a reward for your patriotism and selfless labor. Your prayers are a blessing for our country's safety and our work,” our President said.
At the meeting, the veterans also expressed their gratitude to the head of state for the work being done in our country to restore historical memory, honor the elderly, and show due respect to veterans. Their sincere prayers, satisfaction with life, and advice to the youth added warmth to the meeting.
Such dialogues are very important for society. Because veterans are not history in books, but a living school of example standing before our eyes. The hardships they faced, the suffering they endured, and the peace they preserved are a great lesson for today's generation.
Most importantly, this meeting reminded us of another truth: peace did not come by itself, and a calm life is an invaluable blessing. Preserving it, appreciating it, and passing it on to future generations is the duty of each of us.
