US President Donald Trump has repeatedly spoken about buying Greenland from Denmark. In response, Denmark has launched a petition proposing to buy California from the US for a trillion dollars.

The petition was prepared by the initiative group Danmarkification. California's advantages include year-round warmth, a large number of technological specialists, and the fact that 90% of avocados in the US are produced there. The petition has already collected about 200 thousand signatures. Its authors promise to change the name of Disneyland to "Hans Christian Andersenland".

The authors of the petition answered the question of why Trump might sell California as follows:

Let's be honest - Trump doesn't like California very much. He has called California "the worst state" and has been at odds with its leaders for years. We are sure that he would be ready to give it up for an alternative price, the explanation says.

Funding for the purchase is proposed through voluntary donations. It is not yet known how much of the total amount has been raised, but the petition for California to become part of Denmark has been signed by about 200,000 people.

Trump might sell California because he has repeatedly expressed negative opinions about it, the authors say.
US President Wants to Acquire Greenland

Trump has repeatedly said that Greenland should become part of the United States. He said that the island is strategically important for national security and defense, including protection from China and Russia. Greenlandic Prime Minister Muke Egede responded by saying that the island “will never be sold.” At the same time, he admitted that the island wants to achieve independence from Denmark. He is ready to discuss some issues with Trump.

According to Bloomberg sources, the Trump team is interested in Greenland because the island has large reserves of gold, diamonds, uranium and rare metals used in electronic devices. The kingdom decided to invest 14.6 billion kronor ($ 2.05 billion) in Greenland’s defense against the US president’s claims. The money will be spent on three new Arctic ships that can carry helicopters and drones.
