A Delta Airlines plane flying from Minneapolis, USA, overturned at Toronto's Lester Pearson International Airport. The incident occurred on Monday, February 17, while the plane was landing.

According to media reports, eight people were injured in the incident. Three of them - a child and two adult passengers - were taken to hospitals in serious condition. There were a total of 76 passengers and four crew members on board the Bombardier CRJ 900. According to the airport, none of them died.

A Delta Airlines representative said the flight was operated by Endeavor Air, a subsidiary of the airline based in Minneapolis.

People evacuated themselves from the overturned plane

Photos and videos from the airport posted by witnesses showed smoke rising from the plane. However, no serious fire was reported. Local police spokeswoman Sarah Patten told Reuters that the people on board managed to evacuate the overturned aircraft themselves.

“There was a plane crash. However, we do not yet know the circumstances surrounding it. "I understand that most of the passengers disembarked safely, but we are still trying to confirm that, so the investigation is ongoing at the scene," the constable said.

The media has been reporting on an unusually heavy snowfall in Toronto in recent days. The local airport area has received 53.6 cm of precipitation in just one week — more than the combined rainfall in the past three months.
