The Trump administration has launched a portal where foreign nationals who are illegally in the United States must register and enter their personal information. According to The Wall Street Journal, those who do not comply with this requirement will be fined up to $ 5,000 or face up to 6 months in prison.

The order to create a registry of illegal immigrants was signed by the US President on January 20. According to it, every foreign national over the age of 14 who has not submitted fingerprints and has not been registered when applying for a US visa and has been in the US for 30 days or more must register on this portal. Children under 14 must be registered by their parents or guardians.

When registering on the portal, migrants must provide their passport information and address, then submit their fingerprints. After registration, they receive confirmation from the Department of Homeland Security, and this document must be carried with the migrant at all times. According to Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem, migrants who are illegally in the United States have a choice: "they can return to their homeland and later enter the United States legally, or they can be prosecuted for their violation."
