On February 27, US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Kay Starmer held a meeting at the White House.
The politicians discussed Russia's war in Ukraine. During the conversation, Trump noted that the US had "good talks" with Ukraine and Russia. As a result, he said that there had been significant progress on the issue of a peace agreement.
The British Prime Minister stressed that he was "ready to take all measures, including sending troops as peacekeepers, because this is the only way to achieve peace."
I am working closely with European leaders and I can say for sure that the UK, together with our allies, is ready to send ground troops and airstrikes to support the deal, because that is the only way to ensure lasting peace, he added.
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's lack of confidence in Donald Trump has sparked controversy.
A video circulating on social media shows Trump confidently shaking Starmer's hand, while the British Prime Minister is seen fidgeting like a child.
“I've watched the video several times. The difference in body language is huge. Starmer is nervous. "Trump is seen as a reliable leader," wrote one user on the X social network.
Another user compared the Trump-Starmer meeting to "a meeting between a scared little boy and a master negotiator."
Below are some other noteworthy comments under the video.
"Starmer is acting like a fan who just met his idol... Shame... He must be pinching himself and surprised that he's even there..."
"Starmer is getting nervous. Donald is a champion"
"Starmer is rubbing his palm in embarrassment. You know, he looks like a child who wants to call his mother"
"Trump is a skilled diplomat, negotiator, strategist and master"
"Starmer keeps hitting Trump on the arm or shoulder. It's like they're really good friends. But they're not."
"I've never seen Starmer do that to anyone. He seems to have been trained on how to deal with the American president”
“Starmer’s actions are fake and unnatural”
“Starmer tried to hug Trump, but President Trump grabbed him!”
