Macron revealed the European peace plan for Ukraine

Macron revealed the European peace plan for Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced a peace plan developed by European countries to end the war in Ukraine. According to Le Figaro, Britain and France have been working on the initiative for several months.

Macron said the plan will also be officially presented to the United States and contains a number of important points.

What is the peace plan based on?

The European proposal for a month-long partial ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia is being seen as a first step towards starting peace talks. However, the truce only concerns air and naval attacks and does not affect ground combat operations.

Macron explained this as follows: "If there is a ceasefire, it will be very difficult to monitor its observance along the front."

Therefore, the initial stage of the plan is aimed at mitigating conflicts in the air and at sea. This will serve to reduce attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities and reduce casualties among civilians.

European countries may send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine

According to Macron, the second part of the plan involves the sending of peacekeeping contingents by European countries to Ukraine. However, this process will take place only at a later stage and after the conclusion of negotiations on a ceasefire.

"In the coming weeks, there will be no European troops on Ukrainian soil. We can use this time for a ceasefire, negotiations and the deployment of troops after the signing of a peace agreement," Macron said.

The plan is being considered as a basis for stabilizing the situation in Ukraine and forming security guarantees in the future.

What does Zelensky say about this plan?

During his visit to London, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was asked by journalists whether he was aware of this plan:

"I am aware of everything," he said. This means that Zelensky had advance knowledge of this initiative by France and Great Britain.

Macron proposes to increase European defense spending

Macron stressed that European countries should allocate more money to the defense sector than they do now.

"Over the past three years, the Russians have been spending 10 percent of GDP on defense. Therefore, European countries should also set a limit of 3 or 3.5 percent and prepare for the future. This is significantly different from the 2 percent that many countries have not yet reached," the French president said.

This shows that NATO and European countries intend to strengthen their defense capabilities.

London Summit and the Future of the Ukrainian Conflict

On March 2, a summit was held in London to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war. It was attended by leaders of European countries, Turkey, and Canada. This indicates a further intensification of international diplomatic efforts.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also attended the summit.

The conflict between Trump and Zelensky and its consequences

While Great Britain and France were working on a European peace plan, a sharp conflict broke out between Zelensky and Trump in Washington on February 28.

After the arguments in the White House, Zelensky was asked to leave the presidential administration building, and an agreement on mineral resources in Ukraine was not signed. This incident could seriously affect US-Ukrainian relations.

The peace plan of France and Great Britain for Ukraine demonstrates the intention of the European Union and NATO to resolve the war diplomatically.

✅ The main goals of the plan:
  • Temporarily stop air and sea attacks.
  • Negotiating for a future peace treaty.
  • Discussing the deployment of peacekeeping troops by European countries.

French President Macron also stressed the need to increase European defense spending and called on European countries to be prepared for future problems.

At the same time, the conflict between Zelensky and Trump could affect relations between Ukraine and the West.

Now, how these peace initiatives between Europe and the United States will proceed and what the future of the Russia-Ukraine war will be depends largely on the results of the negotiations.
