Was the star of "Kalmar Games" imprisoned? Player number 001 sentenced

There is a lot of buzz about South Korean actor Oh Yeon-soo (80), who won the hearts of millions with his portrayal of the kind but mysterious player number 001 in the hit Netflix series "Kalmar Games", which broke all records.

Is the hero now the accused?
According to The Daily Star, Oh Yeon-soo has been sentenced to a year in prison for sexual assault. The court initially gave him an 8-month suspended sentence, but later this decision was reviewed and the sentence was extended.

The incident dates back to 2017...
The court heard that the actor sexually assaulted his co-star, an actress, twice in 2017. He allegedly hugged and kissed her against her will near her home.

The prosecutors took the case seriously, stating that "despite his 50 years of experience, the actor sexually assaulted a younger colleague." The victim said she has lived in constant fear since the incident.

Oh Yeon-soo: “My 80-year reputation collapsed in an instant”
The actor denied his guilt, but made the following statement in the courtroom:

“It’s a shame to come to court at this age. If I have said or done something inappropriate, I will accept the verdict. But this cannot be called violence. In an instant, my 80 years of work have become a slave. I feel empty and lost...”

The actor’s lawyers, however, insist that the accusations are based solely on the victim’s words, and that they lack consistency and evidence.

The case is now on appeal
Oh Yeon-soo has filed an appeal against the verdict. The final decision will be made on June 3, 2025.
