Israeli soldiers involved in the Gaza operation have revealed the orders they received to the human rights group Breaking the Silence, according to trt.net.tr.
According to them, they were instructed to create a “sterile zone” up to 1.5 kilometers wide — no buildings, greenhouses, or crops were to remain. This referred to areas near the “Netzarim corridor” and Gaza’s eastern border.
“One clear task: flatten everything,” said a sergeant. The organization reports that the military destroyed around 3,500 buildings and up to 35% of Gaza’s agricultural land, putting food security at serious risk.
Soldiers spoke of entire neighborhoods being razed with bulldozers, bodies being removed, and lands mined. Anyone approaching was treated as a threat.
The UN and Amnesty International have already classified such acts as war crimes. Breaking the Silence stresses that these were not just defensive actions, but also forced displacement and destruction — and must not be normalized.
Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 Israeli Air Force members, both active and reserve, signed a letter demanding the war to end.
