US President Donald Trump is planning to deport nearly one million undocumented migrants in 2025, The Washington Post reported.
If carried out, this would be the largest deportation operation in US history. The previous record was over 400,000 deportations under President Barack Obama.
However, experts argue that the plan is unrealistic due to limited funding, personnel shortages, and legal challenges. Many migrants can appeal their deportation orders in court, a process that may take years.
Stephen Miller, a advisor in Trump’s administration, played a major role in drafting the deportation strategy in collaboration with DHS and other agencies.
Although 1.4 million migrants have final removal orders, some countries refuse to accept them. The US is currently negotiating with 30 countries regarding their repatriation.
According to Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry, 975 Uzbek citizens are expected to be deported in 2025. In February, 7 people were returned on a New York–Tashkent flight, and in March, 10 more were repatriated. Between September 2023 and September 2024, 572 Uzbeks were deported.
Additionally, the CBP Home mobile app has been launched in the US, allowing migrants to voluntarily leave the country without being detained and retain the option to return legally. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
