US President Donald Trump said that the negotiations between Washington and Tehran on the nuclear issue have been productive. However, he emphasized that it was still too early to talk about any concrete outcomes of these negotiations.
"We had very productive and positive meetings regarding the Iranian issue. We'll see where these negotiations lead. We still need some time to decide on our next steps, but the results of the meetings are promising," Trump told journalists in an interview.
At the same time, the administration of the Iranian president declared its readiness to continue negotiations with Washington, but stressed that the process must fully comply with national interests.
"If the US is not prepared to conclude an agreement with us on equal and fair terms, we will have no choice but to continue on our own path," said the statement from the Iranian president's office.
It is known that on April 19, the second round of negotiations between delegations of the US and Iran took place in Rome, aimed at resolving the situation surrounding Tehran’s nuclear program. The meeting also discussed the possibility of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Earlier, it was reported that the US side had proposed Tehran to transfer its highly enriched uranium to a third country such as Russia.
The international community is closely watching the negotiations between the US and Iran. The results of these talks may help to reduce tensions around the nuclear issue. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
