Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Volgograd, expressed his readiness to build a plant for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was reported by the Interfax news agency on April 29.
Putin noted that Russian specialists, together with their Belarusian colleagues, are ready to lay the foundation stone of a new plant and organize the necessary laboratory.
At the same time, the Russian leader also spoke about the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in the production of medium-range aircraft.
Recall that in early March, the Belarusian state news agency BelTA reported that the Russian side had proposed to Minsk to build a plant in Belarus capable of producing up to 100,000 drones per year.
Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin said in this regard: “We have proposed to build a plant in Belarus that is fully localized, covers all the necessary technologies and operates on a single technological platform with production bases in Russia and other countries. The main plan is to build a plant with a production capacity of up to 100,000 drones per year within a year.”
So far, no specific information has been provided on when the construction of the plant will begin and the total cost of the project. However, it is assumed that this production enterprise can be established in the near future in cooperation between the two countries.
