According to analysts cited by the portal, this policy is not just about removing migrants from the country but is also turning into a mechanism of intimidation through harsh measures and threats. In other words, it appears the U.S. government is trying to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants by deporting them to more dangerous and remote places.

One of the most alarming scenarios includes the possible reactivation of the notorious Guantanamo military base prison in Cuba. This location is known for its controversial security and legal status.

Which Countries Are on the List?

The report states that the U.S. government is considering the possibility of signing agreements with 19 countries or is already in negotiations. Among them are Angola, Benin, Honduras, Libya, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Rwanda, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

According to the portal, these countries are viewed by the U.S. as “sufficiently safe and distant” locations suitable for deportation.

Sources for The Intercept say the U.S. government plans to significantly increase deportation flights in the coming weeks. This means a fearful and uncertain future for undocumented migrants.
