In the Russian city of St. Petersburg, internal affairs bodies have launched large-scale raids against violations of migration legislation. This was reported by the press service of the St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to reports, police officers have been conducting special inspection measures at construction sites, public transport and main streets throughout the city for several days. During the measures, about 5 thousand foreign citizens were checked, and more than 200 of them were taken to regional police departments for committing administrative offenses.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, most of the detained foreigners were fined or released after being given strict warnings to immediately eliminate the violations. However, about 30 migrants who grossly violated migration legislation were warned to immediately leave the country.
Video footage taken by the police shows law enforcement officers stopping and checking cars on the roads, scrutinizing documents on public transport, and conducting special checks at construction sites.
The police dog services and traffic safety units were also actively involved in these measures. The road patrol officers inspected about 160 vehicles, as a result of which about twenty traffic violations were identified and appropriate measures were taken against the violators.
Representatives of the St. Petersburg police department announced that preventive measures to maintain security and order in the city will continue in the coming days. They urge residents and guests of the city to strictly comply with migration laws, as well as to always carry the relevant documents with them.
It should be noted that such raids serve not only to identify violations among migrants, but also to prevent crime and other offenses in the city. It is expected that additional measures will be taken in order to ensure public safety and public order after the events. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
