Russia and Uzbekistan Strengthen Strategic Cooperation on Migration and Youth Issues
Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with the heads of the world's leading news agencies, announced that an agreement had been reached to bring cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan on migration to a new level. In his speech, Putin emphasized that both countries would work together to address the challenges of population growth and the labor market in Uzbekistan.

“If 30 years ago there were 15–18 million people living in Uzbekistan, now the population has exceeded 38 million. This is increasing by about 1 million every year. So, changes are happening very rapidly,” Putin said.

The Russian leader noted that problems in the labor market and social sectors need to be solved on the basis of mutual agreements: “Together with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, we agreed to jointly solve migration issues. We must cooperate in preparing and organizing those who want to work in Russia. This includes not only learning the Russian language and culture, but also concrete steps according to a general plan. I hope we will implement these projects together.”

Putin also stressed that working with youth is of strategic importance. He noted that special attention is paid to the development of ties between the youth of Russia and Uzbekistan: “Work with young people is important and very valuable. There is already active dialogue between the two countries in this direction. As far as I know, Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s assistant, Saida Shavkatovna, visited Moscow and held meetings with colleagues in the Russian government and Presidential Administration. On the instructions of the president, the goal is to expand youth relations and develop new projects and initiatives.”

The President of Russia also emphasized that youth cooperation between the two countries is one of the main priorities and that concrete proposals are being developed in this area.

Thus, Russia and Uzbekistan have decided not only to strengthen strategic cooperation in migration, but also to work together on youth policy and spiritual and educational ties in pursuit of common goals.
