Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received a 9th dan in Taekwondo

Among the high achievements in the field of taekwondo, another historic event was recorded for Turkmenistan. The national leader of the country, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, was awarded the highest skill level in this sport — the 9th dan. This was reported by the official news agency TDH.

According to available information, this honorary title was officially awarded by the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Federation of the Republic of Korea, recognizing Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's contribution to the popularization of taekwondo in Turkmenistan, promoting it among youth, and strengthening international sports relations.

The award ceremony took place with the participation of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Chairman Jeong Won Ju and the head of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Federation Jeong Gap Kil. During the meeting, Berdimuhamedov was presented with a special certificate and a kimono — the traditional uniform for taekwondo practitioners.

According to Berdimuhamedov, he considers this award not as a personal honor, but as a sign of respect for all taekwondo athletes and youth of Turkmenistan. “This title is a sign of trust in our sport and our youth,” he said.

The Turkmen leader emphasized that all conditions are being created in the country for the further development of sports, including taekwondo. According to him, Turkmen athletes are successfully participating in international competitions, and this sport is becoming increasingly popular among the youth.

It should be noted that taekwondo is not only about physical strength and skill but also discipline, patience, and self-control. This sport is widely recognized around the world. In Turkmenistan, thanks to ongoing reforms and the personal support of the state leader, taekwondo is reaching new heights.
