USAID shut down — what happens next?
As of July 1, 2025, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has officially ceased operations, Kursiv.media reported.

The decision came from the administration of President Donald Trump. From now on, all international aid programs will be overseen by the US State Department and aligned strictly with national interests.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that USAID spent hundreds of billions of dollars, but failed to achieve sustainable results. Despite receiving aid, many countries continue to vote against the US on the international stage. For instance, African nations supported the US in only 29% of UN votes.

It was also noted that much of the funding went to international NGOs, and in some cases, even to organizations linked to terrorist groups.
