“The Turbaned Tornado” Fatally Struck by Car
The world’s oldest runner — Indian athlete Fauja Singh — has sadly passed away. He was 114 years old. Known globally as the “Turbaned Tornado,” the marathon legend became a victim of a tragic car accident.

According to the Hindustan Times, Singh was crossing the road in his home village when he was hit by an unidentified driver. The perpetrator fled the scene. Despite being rushed to the hospital, doctors were unable to save him.

Fauja Singh was born on April 1, 1911. Although he struggled to walk as a child, he later made sports an inseparable part of his life. At 89, he began running marathons seriously in the UK and became an inspiration to the elderly through his participation in various international competitions.

In 2013, at the age of 101, he completed a 10-kilometer run in 1 hour, 32 minutes, and 28 seconds. Later, in 2016, he ran in the Mumbai Marathon. In recent years, he stepped away from running and became a spectator at events.

His life stands as a symbol of sport, perseverance, and mental strength. The memory of Fauja Singh — who inspired thousands — will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
